The ASUC Senate set a date for the recall election of Senator John Moghtader at last night's meeting.
An election will take place on Jan. 26 and 27 in which students will be able to vote on whether to keep the independent senator in office.
A two-thirds majority is required to successfully recall the senator.
According to the ASUC constitution, a recall election date had to be set at last night's meeting, despite lingering questions about election specifics such as whether to use online voting.
"There is still a lot to work out," said Moghtader, who said the ASUC Judicial Council needs to clarify specifics of holding a recall election.
The judicial council is expected to release its advisory opinion on how to conduct the recall election after the end of the semester on Jan. 19, senators said.
