Actress Robin Wright Penn, known for her roles in "Forrest Gump" and "The Princess Bride," appeared on campus Tuesday in a panel discussion on violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Penn is taking part in the Congo Speakers' Tour, a national tour of college campuses that aims to raise awareness about conflict and sexual violence in Congo. The event was sponsored by STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition, Amnesty International, Enough Project, the Center for African Studies and Campus Progress. Penn was joined by Congo activists. Elizabeth Hopper, co-coordinator of Amnesty International at UC Berkeley, said she hoped the event would help more people become involved in activism relating to Congo.
