The Cal men's crew team didn't wait for its upcoming matchup with Washington to showcase its edge over the Huskies.
At the San Diego Crew Classic this weekend, the Bears took care of their conference foe on multiple occasions, with the varsity eight rowing a time of 5:51.8 to claim the Copley Cup and the second varsity eight earning a victory in the Sharp Cabrillo Cup with a time of 6:06.92.
Washington finished second in both races, clocking in at 5:52.61 and 6:11.02, respectively.
The event in San Diego, Calif., was the last multi-team competition for Cal -- which won three of the four grand finals -- before three consecutive dual matchups against Oregon State, the Huskies and Stanford.
The Bears didn't capture the sweep of Washington, though, as their novice eight finished the Derek Guelker Memorial Cup nine seconds after the Huskies.
The rematch will take place April 25 at Montlake Cut in Seattle.
