Yesterday marked the last day of this year's ASUC general elections.
Although voting is over, results of the election will not be tabulated until a week from today, said Elections Council Chair Emily Liedblad.
This year's election could prove pivotal to the party balance within the ASUC. Currently, the two major parties, Student Action and CalSERVE, each hold eight seats in the senate. Third party and independent senators control the remaining four seats.
The CalSERVE party also controls four out of five of the executive seats.
Liedblad said no elections violations have been reported so far, but students have one week after the polls close to report any potential violations.
She added that there have been no problems or known technical difficulties in running the election.
Liedblad attributed this to the recall election of Senator John Moghtader from Feb. 23-24, which she said provided an opportunity for the election staff to prepare and organize before the full general elections.
"Everything has been smooth sailing," she said. "The recall election was a pretty good dry run. We've been able to fix some of the errors we ran into last time."
The turnout for ASUC elections has been generally low in the past. Last year's was 10,459-about 30 percent of the student body.
Turnout numbers for this year's election will be available when votes are tabulated next week.
