PHOENIX, Ariz. -- An aircraft chartered to fly the Cal football team to its game at Arizona State University landed safely this morning after the pilot reported minor concerns with the plane's landing gear.
In an announcement to passengers, the pilot said a warning light had come on after the plane took off from Oakland International Airport. The pilot said he had lowered the landing gear mid-flight and then raised it in attempt to diagnose the problem.
Four fire engines met the plane on the runway at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and the plane landed without incident.
Members of the football team, coaching staff, journalists and alumni disembarked from the plane safely.
