Rafael Campbell, 28, one of four suspects in a May 16 Berkeley homicide case, was arrested Tuesday after being profiled Nov. 7 on the TV show "America's Most Wanted."

Campbell was the last of four suspects in the case to be arrested. The first two suspects, Anthony Price and Stephon Anthony, were arrested at the crime scene and the third, Samuel Flowers, was arrested in Florida almost two weeks after the incident.

In late June, the Berkeley Police Department asked the U.S. Marshals Service for assistance in tracking down Campbell because police were unsure whether he had fled the state, said Berkeley police Lt. Andrew Greenwood.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, U.S. Marshals, working with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Northern California Fugitive Apprehension Team and Sacramento Police Department officers, surrounded an apartment complex at 4500 Natomas Crossing Road in Sacramento and called for Campbell.

According to Greenwood, Campbell fled the apartment from a rear sliding door on the ground floor, vaulted a small balcony and continued on foot through a neighboring field. Sacramento police officers, who had secured the perimeter, released their K-9 unit, which apprehended Campbell in a chase.

Andrew Holland, producer of "America's Most Wanted," said the media exposure drew attention to the homicide case and may have helped authorities find and arrest Campbell.

"We wanted to do what we could to procure leads on Campbell," he said.

Greenwood said the TV show approached the Berkeley Police Department a few months ago before filming in late August and October.

Although Greenwood said the coverage could not have hurt the search for Campbell, he said he could not say whether the national profiling actually helped to finally track him down.

"The (Berkeley Police Department) greatly appreciated 'America's Most Wanted''s involvement," he said.

Greenwood said he expects Campbell to be arraigned Thursday and anticipates he will be charged with three homicides.

Campbell, who suffered from a dog bite during his arrest, was treated at a Sacramento hospital before being taken to the Berkeley Jail Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, he was transferred to Santa Rita Jail, where he remains in custody.
