STOCKTON, Calif. -- During halftime of the Cal men's basketball game Wednesday night, a group of break dancers came out to center court and performed for a crowd of 8,704.

The fans, electrified by the performance, got on their feet at the conclusion to show their appreciation.

Those in the audience expecting a similarly scintillating performance from Pacific were thoroughly disappointed, however, as the visiting Bears routed the Tigers by a score of 79-54.

The game, which took place at the Stockton Arena, marked the first time that Pacific (6-2) has played a home game away from Alex G. Spanos Center since 1981.

While the Tigers seemed rattled by the near-sellout crowd, Cal (6-3) paid little attention to the loud environment and shot almost 60 percent from the field in the first half.

Senior Patrick Christopher, in particular, got things started for the Bears by hitting his first five shots.

None were more emphatic than an alley-oop jam that put Cal up by 10 in the early going.

"That's the fun thing of playing on the road ... hitting the shot to silence the crowd," Christopher said.

The guard finished with 22 points for the game and also had 10 rebounds.

Fellow starters Jerome Randle and Jamal Boykin each contributed 15 points.

The five starters for the Bears combined to score 66 points -- an especially impressive feat considering the fact that the most points Pacific had given up to an opposing team all season was 63.

"We're a team that can shoot the ball, and we wanted to set the tone early both offensively and defensively," Christopher said.

The Tigers shot 33 percent from the floor and made just four of 23 shots from beyond the arc. Their largest run for the entire game was 4-0.

Outside of Michael Nunnally, who had 16 points in the losing effort, no other Pacific player scored more than six points.

"They tried to go inside, especially with Nunnally, but we had three post guys we were using on him," Cal coach Mike Montgomery said. "We know they're an inside-oriented team and we prepared for that. If they shot it well, it'd be a different story."

The woeful shooting performance by the Tigers allowed Cal to take a 14-point lead into the half. An 8-0 run to begin the second half put the Bears in complete control.

In the final eight minutes of the game, Pacific was unable to cut the lead below 20.

"We were up 14 at half and it could have been a lot more, but we started forcing some things," Montgomery said. "The second half we really played well defensively. We kind of took away any idea they had of making a comeback."

With the game in the books, Cal won't play another game until Dec. 22, when it heads to Lawrence, Kan., to challenge top-ranked Kansas.

Fortunately for the Bears, forward Theo Robertson should not be too rusty for the game. Coming off the bench against the Tigers, Robertson started slow but eventually reverted to his previous form and finished with eight points.

"We've got some work to do and hopefully we get healthy," Montgomery said. "We haven't had everybody together, so we need to figure out what we need to get better at. The depth thing started to play itself out. With Theo back, we've got enough players."
