They didn't think he could throw 50 yards from one knee, but that all changed Thursday morning.

After a one-hour workout attended by a bevy of NFL scouts, Cal quarterback Kyle Boller provided the final highlight of the day when he pierced the facing wind and split the Memorial Stadium uprights from midfield.

The majestic heave was just one of the many impressive feats the 6-foot-3, 234-pound senior showed off to representatives from a number of NFL teams.

"It was good," Boller said. "It was exciting to throw the ball in front of NFL scouts."

Already lauded for his mobility and foot speed, Boller proved his arm strength and accuracy Thursday, connecting on a number of common receiver routes.

"I just need to make sure I improve my mechanics and fundamentals, and make sure I'm on top of them," Boller said.

If he does that, the next place he shows up might just be the first round of April's NFL draft.
