ASUC Senator Eats Crow During Turkey Week

I would like to apologize to Olivia Layug, the ASUC, the students of UC Berkeley, the administration, the greater Cal community and anyone who has been affected by my statement ("Senator's Message An Instant Humiliation," Nov. 21). At no time did the statement ever have malicious intention.

I have many friends who affiliate themselves with minority groups and I would never want to make any comment that would offend them or any individuals with the same beliefs.

The statement stemmed from frustration with the inner workings of the ASUC Senate; in no way did the statement represent me as an individual or my beliefs.

I hope that all those offended can come to forgive and forget so we can continue to work together as leaders to better the campus community.

Once again I am sorry for my actions.

UC Berkeley and Stanford Should, Once and For All, Bury the Hatchet

In light of the fact that we've kidnapped/massacred the Stanford tree and defeated the Cardinals two years running ("Cal Wins Big Game 28-16," Nov. 24), I feel this would be a golden opportunity for us, in conjunction with the losers, to sink the axe to the bottom of the San Francisco Bay.

After all, we don't want to let this get to our heads, and it's pretty hard for that not to happen when we have a symbol like the axe-an instrument used for beheading people and felling trees-at the center of our rivalry. I propose that a group of UC Berkeley and Stanford students, faculty, alumni, fans meet at the Golden Gate Bridge and drop the weighted axe into the bay as a declaration of peace and solidarity.

Let's all move forward as a state, please. Let's not find any more bones to pick!
