U.S. Under-20 National Team Goes Undefeated
The U.S. National Team dominated the competition at the 2006 FIBA Americas U-20 Championship in Mexico City, Mexico.
Saturday, the team beat previously undefeated Brazil, 96-54, to win the gold medal. The U.S. averaged a 62-point average margin of victory in its five wins.
Cal coach Joanne Boyle served as an assistant to head coach Joanne McCallie, who also coaches at Michigan State.
"Really understanding the process the USA basketball and the level they're
trying to compete at has been great," Boyle said. "The different chemistry
to get them to playing at their best was very interesting."
Bears forward Devanei Hampton was selected to the team, but returned to Berkeley after injuring her knee in practice.
