Q: What does music do for you?
A: Wow, well we started this conversation talking about spirituality. To me, my music is my spirituality. It's how I relate to "the other." Whatever you want to call it-God, Mother Nature, Oneness, etc. It's my poetic confrontation with the fundamental truth. I project it out in this world and discuss it with others.
How would you describe the music you and your band produce?
We combine keys, drums, horns, bass, a whole lot of sounds. We make a varied lineup of rock tunes, from swing to funk. It's a representation of our eclectic generation of music. Come have a listen at Blake's on Friday.
Maybe I'll do that. What are your own musical influences?
Radiohead is huge for me. Lately, I've been pretty into Ben Folds; he's a piano player. A rockin' Billy Joel, super-melodic. He's got a writing style that is real dark and ironic; at times very earnest.
