Lorenz Goldnagl, who owns the copyright to a font used by the ASUC Student Advocate Office, is challenging the Judicial Council's claim that the font is an ASUC resource, according to an e-mail Goldnagl sent to ASUC officials Sunday.
The ruling explicitly stated the font was not an ASUC resource, said Mike Davis, the council's assistant chair. But Davis acknowledged that the ruling's last paragraph, which says that the font is an "office resource," was vague and may have caused Goldnagl to misinterpret its ruling.
The Judicial Council kicked Yang out last week-two days before election results were counted and released-because he used a font widely linked with the Student Advocate Office.
Using an ASUC resource-which the Judicial Council defined as something students associate with the ASUC-in a campaign is illegal, according to ASUC rules.
The Judicial Council's decision allowed Yang's sole opponent, graduating senior Richard Schulman, to take office.
Goldnagl could not be reached for comment.
