At its meeting tonight, Berkeley City Council will discuss supporting the closure of the prison at Guantanamo Bay and honoring the memory and life of a Native American leader — two resolutions authored by the city’s Peace and Justice Commission. Sarah Mohamed is the lead city government reporter.
A resolution supporting the closure of Guantanamo Bay will go before the Berkeley City Council at its meeting next Tuesday, and would include a letter addressed to President Barack Obama demanding that the prison be shut down. Adelyn Baxter covers city government.
