City Council subcommittee to find panel of experts to help implement Measure D

Mayor Tom Bates appointed a subcommittee Nov. 18 to help implement Measure D, the voter-approved tax on sugar-sweetened beverages that passed with a 76.17 percent vote in the Nov. 4 election.

Voters to decide historic ‘soda tax’ at Tuesday’s polls

On Tuesday Berkeley citizens will decide whether the city will be the first in the nation to impose a tax on distributors of sugar-sweetened beverages. If passed, the proposed ordinance would impose a tax of one cent per ounce on the distributors of sugar-sweetened beverages.

Measure D lacks substance for meaningful change

I urge you to read the measure and decide for yourselves. But as I see it, a vote against Measure D is not a vote for Big Soda. A vote against Measure D is a vote against irresponsible policy making and careless spending.
