The student was walking on Campanile Way when he was confronted by three males about 12:40 a.m., according to a UCPD crime alert released Monday. A perpetrator moved in front of the student as another perpetrator grabbed his backpack from behind in an attempt to take it. The perpetrator in front verbally threatened the student, who clenched his backpack and began to yell.

The three suspects fled the scene, running east toward the Campanile. The victim, who was uninjured during the encounter, walked home and called UCPD to report the crime.

UCPD searched the area but was unable to locate the suspects.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspects are described as:

Suspect No. 1 — A male, possibly Asian, in his late teens or early 20s, 6 feet in height, with a thin build and dark complexion and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect No. 2 — An Asian male in his late teens or early 20s, 5-foot-10 in height, with a thin build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect No. 3 — An unknown race male in his late teens or early 20s, 5-foot-10 in height, with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.

The victim was standing at the shuttle pickup location in front of the residence hall on Channing Way about 7:45 p.m. when she was approached from behind by the perpetrator, according to a UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspect shoved her and took her cellphone before running west on Channing Way and south on Dana Street.

The victim was not injured during the encounter.

UCPD and Berkeley Police Department searched the area but were unable to locate the perpetrator.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect is described as:

A black male, approximately 19 years old, 5-foot-11 in height, weighing about 170 pounds and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

At approximately 1:05 a.m., the victim, a 21-year-old female with no affiliation to UC Berkeley, was walking on Telegraph Avenue when the perpetrator passed her and pulled her purse from behind, according to the UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspect took the purse and fled on foot.

The victim was not injured during the encounter. UCPD and Berkeley Police Department searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the perpetrator is described as a black male, approximately 15 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-5 in height, with a slim build and wearing a red and black horizontal-striped polo-style shirt and a red baseball cap.

The male victim, whose affiliation with UC Berkeley is unknown, was walking on Channing Way at approximately 10:50 p.m. when he was approached by three males, according to the UCPD crime alert released Wednesday. The suspects pointed handguns at the victim and took his cellphone.

The suspects fled the scene, heading eastbound on Channing Way and then in an unknown direction on Piedmont Avenue.

The victim was not injured during the encounter. BPD and UCPD searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The suspect was hiding near the intersection at approximately 12:05 p.m. and jumped out at the 20-year-old female victim as she walked by, according to the UCPD crime alert released Tuesday. The suspect allegedly took her cell phone from her hand.

The suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry, which was last seen driving eastbound on Durant.

The victim, whose affiliation is unknown, was not physically injured during the encounter. UCPD and BPD searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect is described as: A black male in his early 20s with a medium build, wearing a gray shirt and black gym shorts.

A 23 year old UC student was texting on his phone around 10:05 p.m. when the suspect approached him and grabbed his phone. The victim proceeded to chase the suspect according to the report.

A UCPD police officer in a patrol car witnessed two individuals run into the intersection of Shattuck and Allston. The officer saw the suspect turn around and throw punches at the victim according to the report. The suspect then ran into the BART station followed by the victim.

The officer pursued both individuals into the station where he caught up to the victim and told him to remain where he was. The officer then found the suspect on the lower train platform and arrested him.  The victim sustained minor injuries in the encounter and his property was recovered and returned according to the report.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect arrested is described as:

Flavio Villegas, an 18 year old Hispanic male, 5’09” in height, with
a medium build, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

According to a UCPD crime alert released Wednesday, the victim was at the intersection of Channing Way and Dana Street when two male suspects run up to him from behind at about 5:57 a.m.  The suspects demanded the victim’s property and he handed them his wallet, the alert states.

The victim, whose affiliation to UC Berkeley is unknown, was ordered to turn and run. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during the encounter, according to the alert.

UCPD and the Berkeley Police Department searched the area but were unable to locate the two suspects.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspects are described as:

Suspect #1 –  A Black male in his late 20s, 6’1” in height, 185 lbs., wearing a black beanie, a dark heavy coat and grey pants.

Suspect #2 – A Black male in his mid-20s, 5’11” in height, 160-170 lbs., with close cut black hair wearing a grey pattern sweatshirt and light blue jeans.

At about 5:15 p.m., a male was walking near the intersection of Haste Street and Piedmont Avenue when he was approached from behind by the suspect, according to a UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s cell phone and got into a waiting vehicle.

According to the alert, the victim was not injured during the encounter.

The suspect vehicle is described as a green, 2000-2006 Chevy Malibu and was last seen northbound on Piedmont Avenue, the release said.

The Berkeley Police Department searched the area but was unable to locate the suspects.

At 2:28 p.m., the female student was walking along the first floor of LeConte Hall when the suspect allegedly removed a cellphone from her hand by force while the victim tried holding on to her phone, according to UCPD spokesperson Capt. Margo Bennett. The suspect then left the area, according to police.

The victim was not injured during the encounter. UCPD was alerted of the incident by the victim but was unable to locate the suspect.

The victim activated the GPS on her stolen phone, and it was determined that the cellphone was likely on a BART train due to the device’s rapid movement, according to Bennett. BART Police also assisted in searching for the suspect but were unable to locate him.

“While it is disturbing that this occurred in one of our buildings, one incident cannot be a predictor that other daytime crimes will occur,” Bennett said.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect is described as:

“A Black male, in his late teens or early twenties, dark complexion, approximately 5’ 6” tall, an Afro-style haircut with a flat top, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt underneath and blue jeans.”

Loud Party –  1700 Block of Woolsey Street

On July 22, at approximately 11:51 p.m., BPD officers were dispatched to a report of a loud party in the 1700 Block of Woolsey Street. The officer assigned to the call was able to locate the party. They spoke with the resident, who quieted the party.

Loud Reports –  Ashby Avenue and Ellis Street

On July 22, at approximately 10:52 p.m., BPD officers responded to the area of Ashby Avenue and Ellis Street for a report of possible gun shots or fireworks. It was reported that one loud report was heard. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate where the loud report came from. There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Bicycle Theft –  2100 Block of Shattuck Avenue

On July 22, between 7 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. a bicycle theft occurred in the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue. The victim locked and secured her bicycle. When she returned she discovered that an unknown suspect stole her bicycle.

Disturbance – Milvia Street and Haste Street

On July 23, at approximately 5:35 p.m., BPD officers responded to a report of a disturbance inside a vehicle in the area of Milvia Street and Haste Street. It was reported that a male and female were arguing inside. Officers arrived and located the vehicle. They spoke with the involved parties and determined things were fine.

Reckless Driver –  Ashby Avenue and Piedmont Avenue

On July 23, at approximately 5:27 p.m. a reckless driver was reported in the area of Piedmont Avenue and Ashby Avenue. It was reported the vehicle was speeding and failed to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. BPD officers were dispatched to the location but were unable to locate the described vehicle.

Residential Burglary –  1100 Block of Francisco Street

On July 23, between 5:15 p.m. and 5:40 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Francisco Street. BPD officers responded to a residential alarm call.  While checking the residence they were contacted by the homeowner.  The homeowner confirmed that a burglary did occur and that their purse was missing. The suspect is unknown.

Robbery via Gun –  2800 Block of Hillegass Avenue

On July 23, at approximately 11:31 p.m., a robbery via gun occurred in the 2800 block of Hillegass Avenue. The victims were walking in the area when they were approached by four suspects. Some of the suspects produced handguns and demanded the victim’s property. Fearing for their safety, the victims gave their property to the suspects. The suspects then fled the area. The suspects, four juvenile males were later apprehended and arrested by BPD officers.

Auto Burglary –  100 Block of Seawall Drive

On July 24, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:04 p.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 100 block of Seawall Drive. The unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then removed the victim’s bag, stealing it and its contents.

Bicycle Theft – 2200 Block of Shattuck Avenue

On July 24, between 8: p.m. and 10:45 p.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s bicycle. The bicycle was locked and secured to a bicycle rack. When the victim returned, he discovered the bicycle missing.

Robbery – Channing Way and Milvia Street

On July 24, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a robbery occurred in the area of Channing Way and Milvia Streets. The victim was approached by the unknown suspect who demanded his property. The suspect advised the victim that he had a weapon. The victim fearing for their safety gave the victim his property. The suspect fled on foot east on Channing Way from Milvia Street.

The suspect is described as:

Suspect – “Black male juvenile, 16-18 years old, slim build, dark complexion, 5’6”, short black hair, wearing a long sleeve light blue shirt and long black jeans.”

Robbery via Gun – 2500 Block of San Pablo Avenue

On July 24, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a robbery via gun occurred in the 2500 block of San Pablo Avenue. The victim was getting money from an ATM, when the unknown suspect approached him. The suspect had a gun and demanded the victim’s money. The victim gave the suspect the money. The suspect got into a waiting vehicle, which drove from the area.

The suspect is described as:

Suspect – “Black male, teens, 5’7” tall, 120-130 lbs, thin build, dark complexion, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, armed with a silver gun.”

Suspect Vehicle – “80-90’s 4-door, dark blue.”

Robbery –  2000 Block of Ashby Avenue

On July 25, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a robbery occurred in the 2000 block of Ashby Avenue. The victim was walking in the area when he was approached by two unknown suspects. The suspects demanded the victim’s property. Fearing for his safety, the victim gave his property to the suspect. The suspects then fled the area.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect  1 – “Black male, 20s, 6’3”-6’4” tall, 180 lbs, short black hair, wearing a gray shirt and gray slacks.”

Suspect 2 – “Black male, 20’s, 6’3”-6’4” tall, 180 lbs, short dark hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.”

Traffic Hazard – Ashby Avenue and 7^th Street

On July 25, at approximately 11:35 a.m., BPD officers responded to the area of Ashby Avenue and 7th Street for a traffic hazard. It was reported that a live electrical wire was down. BPD officers quickly arrived on scene and diverted traffic. The officers maintained their traffic position until the Berkeley Fire Department and PG&E deemed it safe to allow traffic to flow normally again.

Residential Burglary –  1500 Block of Woolsey Street

On July 26, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Woolsey Street. The garage to the residence was broken into. It appears the door may have been unlocked. The unknown suspect entered the garage and took electronic equipment and camping gear. The suspect was confronted by a neighbor. The suspect dropped the property, and it was recovered by the neighbor.

The suspect is described as:

Suspect – “Black male, 45-50 years old, 5’10”-6’ tall, thin-medium build, gray stubble hair and beard, wearing a black T-shirt, gray dirty sweatpants and black shoes.”

Auto Burglary –  5^th Street and Harrison Street

On July 26, between 2 p.m. and 3:11 p.m., an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s locked vehicle. The suspect stole the victim’s bag and the contents.

Prowler –  2100 Block of McKinley Avenue

On July 27, at 9:45 a.m., an alert neighbor called BPD reporting a suspicious prowler in the 2100 block of McKinley Avenue. Officers located the suspect, who was identified by the witness. The adult male suspect was arrested for prowling.

 Vandalism –  Delaware Street and Milvia Street

On July 28, at 12:52 a.m., BPD officers responded to a report of vandalism to a vehicle in the area of Delaware and Milvia Streets. The officer arrived on scene and discovered there were 8 victim vehicles, all with similar damage. There is no information on a motive or suspect at this time.

Strong Arm Robbery – 2300 Block of Telegraph Avenue

On July 28, at approximately 6:41 p.m., a strong arm robbery occurred in the 2300 block of Telegraph Avenue. The victim was getting money from an ATM machine. The suspect approached the victim from behind and forcibly removed the money from the victim’s possession. The suspect fled on foot and was later apprehended by Berkeley Police Department officers.
