Cal cross country looks forward to future after tumultuous season

Brendel and Corcoran led the men’s pack for most of the season, but lack of depth and standout talent was the team’s Achilles’ heel. The women also had a roster that ran shallow, but Knights and Oakley carried the team. The freshman-senior duo’s flat-out dominant performances in every meet of the season were enough to boost the the women to the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cal prepares for final meet at NCAA Championships

The women will be led by the electric duo of senior Bethan Knights and freshman Brie Oakley. This will be Knights’ third trip to the NCAA championships, having gone her freshman and junior years, but this will be the first time she’ll run with her team. Oakley, on the other hand, will race in her first collegiate championship meet this Saturday. Oakley’s performance will be one to watch, having continually impressed all season long.

Cal cross country looks to impress at Joe Piane Invitational

The Cal men’s team will be running the 8k, while the women will compete in the slightly shorter 5k. This, combined with the ideal weather and the relatively flat course, will be sure to produce some very impressive times. However, both races are going to be much shorter, and therefore much faster, than what either team usually trains for.
