Television cameras will be rolling, pink volleyballs will be in play, and senior Morgan Beck will be watching from the sidelines in a medical boot.

To say the least, this will be a unique weekend for the No. 5 Cal volleyball team when it takes on the two Arizona Pac-10 teams.

Friday's match against Arizona State (10-6, 1-2 in the Pac-10) will be televised live by Comcast SportsNet West in the first of five scheduled televised matches for the Bears this season. In addition, Friday will be "Dig for the Cure Night," as a part of the Pac-10's pledge to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Players will be donning pink accessories and even coach Rich Feller will be sporting a pink shirt.

"It's good because it puts a different perspective on competition and makes us realize there are so many things in this world that are more important than winning a volleyball match," Feller said.

Still, even with these events happening around them, the Bears (14-1, 4-0) are only thinking about coming out of Haas Pavilion this weekend with two more wins tacked onto their record.

Cal is currently on a nine-match winning streak and has won its last 23 sets. The Bears are also riding a home winning streak of 13 matches.

"Part of it this year is scheduling, honestly," Feller said in reference to his squad's home record. "We haven't had a lot of the top teams come in yet."

Another key to all the streaks has been the offense. Cal has a .325 hitting percentage for the season-which puts it at fourth in the nation-and the Bears are third in the country in kills per set. Feller was pleased with the output, but still had his team work on a more varied attack this week in practice.

"We feel we need to get more kills on the pins, both right and left, so we worked on that this week," senior Am'ra Solomon said.

The reason for this emphasis on offense may be due to the fact that, on Saturday, the Bears will be taking on a tough Arizona defense that ranks fourth in the nation in blocks per set. The Wildcats (12-3, 2-1 Pac-10) are also top in the conference in opponent hitting percentage.

"We've watched film, and what's great about this team is that we're able to imitate the other team in practice," junior Kristen Kathan said. "We have a big block, so when our hitters go into games, they're pretty prepared. As far as their scrappy defense goes, our hitters are relentless anyway."

As mentioned, though, Cal will be playing without one of its top hitters this weekend. Beck suffered a high ankle sprain during practice this week and is listed as day-to-day.

On a brighter note, middle blocker Kat Reilly is almost back to 100 percent and could see the court this weekend.

Reilly may find it difficult to find playing time, though, due to the recent play of the other two middle blockers, Shannon Hawari and Mindi Wiley. However, the senior brings leadership and experience that the Bears sometimes lack, as evident in last weekend's match against Washington State.

Cal committed many mental errors in its match against the Cougars and almost gave away a set. But while the Bears won, other teams-such as UCLA and USC-weren't as resilient, as both fell in an upset-filled weekend in the Pac-10.

"The Washington State match was kind of a wake-up call for us," Feller said. "We don't want to overlook any teams. Still, when I look at the Pac-10, I almost don't consider any win an upset."
