Construction on Haas offices begins today

Construction to upgrade office space for professional faculty began Monday at the Haas School of Business.

With a project budget of $500,000, the renovation will allow professional faculty that have been scattered in different areas of the school to have offices closer together, said Christine Shaff, communications director for facilities services.

Richard Lyons, dean of the Haas School of Business, said in a tweet that the project will be designed to the specific needs of the Haas professional staff.

The project will allow more faculty to have offices, provide space to meet with students and create shared space between faculty.  The offices — located in Suite 502 in the faculty wing at Haas — will include green building practices such as energy efficient lighting and natural ventilation, Shaff said.

“This is not a big project, but an important one, and it will create new spaces for faculty and students to work together,” Shaff said.

The renovations were funded internally through Haas programs and will be completed in January 2012.
