The American Federation of Teachers union ratified an agreement that provides merit increases for the university’s over 350 librarians, the UC Office of the President announced Monday.
The agreement allows librarians to participate in a one-time merit-based salary increase program starting Oct. 1. The ratified agreement also allows librarians to be eligible for the annual academic merit program for 2011-12, like all non-student academic employees, with increases effective as of July 1 of this year.
Negotiations for the agreement, which began in June, reached a tentative agreement in September. The librarians union’s current four-year contract runs through Sept. 30, 2012.
The announcement follows a contract agreement the university reached with the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, announced earlier the same day.
