Read the text of an email that went out to members of the Berkeley Faculty Association, SAVE — a campus faculty group “dedicated to preserving student access and academic quality at the UC,” according to its website — as well as other UC Berkeley faculty members:
“The Public Education Coalition (a cross-sector group of students, workers, and faculty) and the faculty organization SAVE will be hosting a faculty caucus tomorrow, Thursday at 11 a.m. We plan to meet at Sather Gate.
We realize that this is short notice and that there are many perspectives among the faculty, but we welcome you to join us for a conversation. Topics include the multiple ways faculty can be engaged in shaping the future of public education; state and university-level austerity measures; how the public education movement might be conceived in relation to occupy movements; and what efforts might be undertaken with respect to the upcoming Regents meeting and initiatives underway on the Berkeley campus.
Please pass along the word to colleagues who might be interested.”
