Woman sexually assaulted in Eucalyptus Grove

A woman was sexually assaulted in the Eucalyptus Grove on the UC Berkeley campus in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., the woman was walking alone in the grove — south of University Drive near the west edge of campus — when a man allegedly approached her, brandished a knife and sexually assaulted her, according to a UCPD crime alert released Monday.

The victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital, according to the alert. UCPD is investigating the incident.

According to the alert, the suspect is described as a man between 5’8” and 5’10”, weighing 175 pounds, with a skinny build, short dirty hair, brown eyes and who “smelled as if he hadn’t bathed in a few days.”

In April, the Eucalyptus Grove saw two separate incidents of sexual battery and one incident of sexual assault that occurred within the same week — two of which occurred within the same hour.
