Suspect wanted for alleged fraudulent credit card use

The Berkeley Police Department is looking for the woman featured in this image from video surveillance on suspicion of using stolen credit cards.

Berkeley police are looking for a suspect they said fraudulently used credit cards stolen from a Berkeley resident’s wallet in December.

According to Berkeley Police Department Sgt. Mary Kusmiss, the female suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, used the cards at various retail locations in a nearby city before the victim could cancel the cards.

“Although she can no longer use this victim’s credit cards, based on our training and experience, this suspect and ones like her likely commits these types of crimes often,” Kusmiss said in an email. “This is just one of many suspects who commit fraud throughout the city and beyond. We were just fortunate to get a good image from a business surveillance system in this case to share.”

Kusmiss advised anyone who knows the identity of the suspect or has any information about the alleged crime to call Berkeley Police Department.
