Three men allegedly attempt strong arm robbery Friday

UCPD has arrested three males for allegedly attempting a strong arm robbery Friday near the UC Berkeley campus.

At around 10:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was walking on Channing Way between Piedmont Avenue and Prospect Street, when he was approached by three males in their early 20s, according to the crime alert released Monday.  One of the suspects distracted the male victim, while the second suspect attempted to steal the male victim’s wallet by picking his pants’ pocket. The third suspect served as a “look out,” according to the alert. The victim struggled with the suspect and eventually manged to get free and call the police.

UCPD detained three suspects matching the victim’s description who have now been arrested.

The victim was not harmed nor injured during the encounter.
