Bay Area indie hip-hop artist K.Flay will be playing at the Rickshaw Stop this Thursday in support of her latest EP, Eyes Shut. The rapper has done guest vocals with other Bay Area artists such as on Zion I’s hit single “Coastin’,” and has been steadily gaining popularity in the Bay’s hip-hop scene.

Sleepy Sun will be playing a free show at Amoeba Music in San Francisco tomorrow in honor of their third album, Spine Hits. The husky yet ambient rock group will also have copies of the album for sale at the show, which doesn’t come out for another week.

This week’s local band comes in the alternative, pop-rock form of Beta State. The San Francisco group combines catchy, pop guitar-hooks with ambient yet powerful vocals, similar to a Bay-Area-flavored Jimmy Eat World. Check out their song “Stronger Than Gravity” below:
