A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the man suspected in alleged day-time robberies of several students on the UC Berkeley campus.

Police say Kody Smith threatened two students into withdrawing money from an on-campus ATM in separate incidents earlier in September.

In two incidents, a male suspect asked students to purchase magazine subscriptions on Sproul Plaza. After the victims refused, the male walked them to an on-campus ATM located in the Golden Bear Cafe and had them withdraw money, which they then handed over to him.

On Sept. 24 — two weeks after the incidents occurred — police identified Smith as the suspect. Bail is set at $75,000, according to Bennett.

“We are very interested in locating him and having this warrant served,” Bennett said.

Bennett said there have been three other alleged incidents at San Francisco State University similar to this case.
