Berkeley resident and UC Berkeley alumnus Brendan McManus was found dead Saturday in the Oakland Hills after being reported missing Tuesday.

The San Jose Mercury news reported that the 27-year-old was found in the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve on Saturday around 9 a.m.

Berkeley Police Department Lt. Ed Spiller told the news outlet that there were no signs of foul play when McManus’ body was found but that the investigation into his death is ongoing.

According to Berkeley Patch, McManus never returned home Tuesday, though he texted his girlfriend saying he would be home that evening after work.

Though McManus had episodes of depression and was on antidepressants, he did not seem depressed in the week leading up to his disappearance, Berkeley Patch reported.
