Berkeley police officer injured in Richmond

A Berkeley police officer was injured Tuesday while executing a search warrant in Richmond.

At approximately 3:18 p.m., Berkeley officers assigned to the special enforcement unit were attacked by three pit bulls belonging to the resident, according to a press release from Berkeley Police Department. One of the dogs bit an officer in the arm while another dog attempted to help in the attack.

Both dogs were shot and killed. The officer was subsequently treated at a local hospital.
