Berkeley Police Department has released the identity of one individual arrested in alleged connection to the Ashkenaz shootings that took place early Saturday morning.
The arrested individual is Christopher James Washington, 25, of Rodeo, according to Officer Jennifer Coats, spokesperson for Berkeley Police Department. The Saturday shooting incident at Ashkenaz Music and Dance Center occurred during a robbery, in which two suspects who entered the establishment shot two employees. The employees, who were sent to the hospital for serious injuries, have since been released from the hospital, according to the center’s Facebook page.
Washington is being charged with robbery, attempted murder, discharge of a firearm during the commission of a felony causing great bodily injury and discharge of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Coats added.
The case is still currently active and the police department has no further updates at this time, Coats said.
