Man shot, killed on Derby Street

A man was shot and killed Wednesday evening on the 1800 block of Derby Street near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

At approximately 6:52 p.m., police responded to multiple reports of shots fired to find the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a press release by Berkeley Police Department. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

BPD homicide detectives are actively investigating the scene, canvasing the area, interviewing witnesses and following up on leads, according to the statement.

The victim’s name is not being released by BPD at this time.
