Female is victim of strong-arm robbery near Telegraph Avenue and Blake Street

A strong-arm robbery took place early Friday morning near the intersection of Blake Street and Telegraph Avenue.

At approximately 1:05 a.m., the victim, a 21-year-old female with no affiliation to UC Berkeley, was walking on Telegraph Avenue when the perpetrator passed her and pulled her purse from behind, according to the UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspect took the purse and fled on foot.

The victim was not injured during the encounter. UCPD and Berkeley Police Department searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the perpetrator is described as a black male, approximately 15 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-5 in height, with a slim build and wearing a red and black horizontal-striped polo-style shirt and a red baseball cap.
