A UC Berkeley student was robbed on the pathway between Durant Hall and Dwinelle Hall on Monday evening.

The student was walking south while talking on her iPhone at 7:07 p.m. when a man walked up to her, slapped her right cheek and ear area and grabbed her phone, according to a UCPD crime alert released Wednesday.

The perpetrator fled toward Moffitt Library. The student tried to chase the man but tripped and fell, resulting in a laceration to her knee.

UCPD searched the area but was unable to locate the perpetrator.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect is described as:

A black male, 6-foot-2 in height with a medium build, clean-shaven and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
