Cal women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb announced that All Pac-12 forward Gennifer Brandon will be away from the team indefinitely.

“Gennifer Brandon is currently not involved in team activities as she handles more pressing personal matters,” Gottlieb said in a statement. “We love Gen, we support Gen, she remains a part of the Cal women’s basketball family, and we hope to have her back with us soon.”

After a breakout 2012-2013 season in which she posted 19 double-doubles and was an AP All-American and WBCA All-Region selection, Brandon has been sorely missed this year as the Bears have gotten off to a 3-2 start. Post players Reshanda Gray and Courtney Range have picked up the slack in Brandon’s absence, but her scoring and rebounding will surely provide a major boost when she does rejoin the lineup.

According to Gottlieb, there is no timetable for Brandon’s return.
