The Dalai Lama will be visiting Berkeley as part of his tour of the Bay Area next month.
On Feb. 23, the Dalai Lama is scheduled to give a talk, titled “How to Achieve Happiness,” at Berkeley Community Theatre on the Berkeley High School campus.
“His Holiness will delve into the mechanics of the mind and its relationship with emotions such as anxiety and depression, which humans, by our natural instinct, strive to conquer, and peace and contentment that are our common aspirations,” according to a statement from the event’s organizers, the Tibetan Association of Northern California.
Tickets for the Dalai Lama’s Berkeley visit went on sale this weekend and are now sold out, according to the TANC website. He will, however, also be speaking at Santa Clara University on Feb. 24 about business, ethics and compassion, for which ticket sales will begin Jan. 28.
The Dalai Lama also visited Berkeley in 2009, when he gave a lecture at the Hearst Greek Theatre on the topic “Peace through Compassion.”
