An 18-year-old male was assaulted and robbed early Sunday morning near the intersection of Dwight Way and Etna Street.

According to a UCPD crime alert released Tuesday, the victim, whose affiliation with the campus is unknown, was roaming the streets about 3:13 a.m. when he was approached and grabbed by the suspect and told to hand over his wallet. After the victim complied, emptying cash from his wallet, the suspect then struck the victim and demanded his cellphone, which the victim immediately relinquished.

Afterward, the suspect fled the scene southbound on Etna Street. Berkeley Police Department searched the area but was unable to locate the suspect. The victim suffered minor physical injuries that did not require medical attention.

The suspect, according to the crime alert, is described as:

A Hispanic male in his mid-20s to 30s, with a heavy build, 5-feet-8-inches in height, with a small goatee, wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap.
