A female UC Berkeley student was robbed early Friday morning near the intersection of Dana and Carleton streets.
The 25-year-old student was walking near the area at 12:40 a.m. when a man approached her from behind, displayed a black handgun and demanded for her belongings, according to a UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse from her wrist, ran away on foot and got into a dark gray four-door vehicle that drove away.
UCPD and Berkeley Police Department searched the area after the incident but could not find the suspect. The victim suffered minor physical injuries on her wrist but did not require medical attention.
As described in the crime alert, the suspect is a black male in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a dark-colored cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark gray, four-door vehicle of unknown make and model.
