A young man was assaulted and robbed on Telegraph Avenue near the border of campus Friday afternoon.

The victim, who is unaffiliated with UC Berkeley, was on Telegraph Avenue between Bancroft Way and Durant Avenue when he was approached by three other young men at approximately 5:15 p.m., according to a UCPD crime alert released Tuesday.

Police said one of the suspects punched the victim in the face before stealing his money and fleeing on foot eastbound on Durant Avenue, where the suspects were last seen. Berkeley Police Department and UCPD searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

According to the crime alert, the suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 – A black male, approximately 15 years of age, 5-foot-7 inches with a thin build, wearing a blue and white polo shirt and washed jeans.

Suspect 2 and 3 – Black male juveniles.
