A 21-year-old female was robbed of her cell phone near the south side of campus Thursday afternoon.

The woman, whose affiliation with UC Berkeley is unknown, was walking near the intersection of Channing Way and Atherton Street at 4:17 p.m. when a man allegedly stole the victim’s cell phone from her back pocket, according to a UCPD crime alert released Friday. As soon as her phone was taken, the victim chased after the suspect, and Berkeley Police Department officers arrested the man near Durant Avenue and Fulton Street.

The victim’s cell phone was recovered, and she was not injured during the encounter.

According to the crime alert, the suspect is described as:

A black male juvenile, from Oakland.
