A UC Berkeley student was attacked and robbed of his phone Monday evening near a residence hall.
The student, a 20-year-old male, was on Haste Street near Unit 2 speaking on his phone around 6:25 p.m. when two men approached him, according to a UCPD crime alert released Tuesday. The men demanded his phone and, when the student refused, allegedly began punching the student in his back and stomach. The men then grabbed the student, moved him to the west side the Davidson Hall and grabbed his phone, police said.
The student sustained minor injuries, according to the crime alert. The men fled southbound on College Avenue in a green 90s 4-door vehicle and were not located when UCPD officers searched the area.
According to the crime alert the suspects are described as:
Suspect No. 1 — A black male in his 20s, 6-foot-4 in height with a thin muscular build, short hair and no facial hair, wearing a white t-shirt and dark baggy jeans.
Suspect No. 2 — A black male in his 20s, 5-foot-9 in height, with a thin muscular build, short hair and no facial hair, wearing an orange shirt.
