BART police officers, with the assistance of Berkeley Police Department, arrested a juvenile Friday morning on suspicion of serial armed robbery near the North Berkeley BART station following a series of robberies at gunpoint in the station’s parking lot.
The juvenile allegedly carried out three robberies at gunpoint over the course of eight days, beginning last week, according to a BART press release. Each of the three robberies was allegedly carried out before 7 a.m. The individual allegedly demanded cash and fled on foot after the incidents.
The robbery victims in the three cases reported similar suspect descriptions, police said. BART police officers recovered a gun from the juvenile Friday morning, according to the press release.
The first robbery took place on June 18 at 6:45 a.m. in the west parking lot of the station, and the second reportedly happened five minutes later in the northwest parking lot. The third robbery occurred Wednesday at 5:47 a.m. in the west parking lot. No one was injured during the incidents.
The apprehended individual is being held at the Alameda County Juvenile Hall.
