Elderly woman assaulted on Shattuck Avenue

An 85-year-old female from Oakland, whose campus affiliation is unknown, was assaulted on Shattuck Avenue near Allston Way on Sept. 23, according to a crime alert released Monday.

The woman was walking with a family member when she passed an individual about 9:30 p.m. The individual turned around without provocation and allegedly pushed the woman to the ground, according to the crime alert. The woman was seriously injured and required treatment at a hospital, police said.

According to the crime alert, the individual is described as a black female in her 50s, 5-foot-6 in height with a medium build and wearing a long gray coat and dark-green, baggy pants. The individual is also described as pushing a small shopping cart.
