On Sunday, runners will parade through campus and around town as they participate in the second annual Berkeley Half Marathon.

The 13.1-mile loop course starts at the MLK Jr. Civic Center Park and cuts through Telegraph Avenue, across campus, though North Berkeley and down to the Berkeley Marina. Alternatively, there is a shorter route — 5 kilometers — that circles Southside and comes down through campus.

Cheer stations positioned throughout the course will showcase different entertainment groups, including DJs, a cappella performers, dance teams and cellists.

There is still time to register for the race, and runner packets can be picked up at expos held today and tomorrow at Memorial Stadium. All half marathon participants receive a free ticket to the UC Berkeley versus BYU football game Nov. 29.

If you’re liking this event a lot but are not so hot to trot, you can still get involved by volunteering. And if you’re not into this running mumbo jumbo at all and simply want to know which streets are going to be closed, all traffic info can be found here.
