Armed robbery occurs near Greek Theater

A 29-year-old man, unaffiliated with the campus, was the victim of an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday evening east of the Greek Theater.

According to a UCPD crime alert released Wednesday, the man was approached by two unknown suspects while walking near the Bowles lot at about 8:55 p.m. One of the suspects allegedly brandished a gun and proceeded to remove the victim’s wallet and cell phone from his pocket. The second suspect allegedly took the man’s bag.  Both suspects fled on foot toward the Foothill lot, police said.

The man was not harmed during the encounter.

UCPD responded at 9:05 p.m. and searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

According to the crime alert, the suspects are described as:

Suspect No. 1 — A black male, about 20 to 30 years of age, 5-foot-8 in height, with a medium build, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a white bandana partially covering his face and carrying a gun.

Suspect No. 2 — A black male, about 20 to 30 years of age, 5-foot-8 in height, with a medium build, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, and a white bandana partially covering his face.
