Two UC Berkeley students were the victims of a strong-arm robbery in University Village in Albany on Thursday night.
Shortly before 10 p.m., two men aged 24 and 38 were walking along the 900 block of Ohlone Avenue when three suspects reportedly attempted to pull the men’s backpacks off of them and hit one of the victims in the head, according to a UCPD crime alert released Friday. The suspects allegedly removed one backpack eventually but dropped it.
The suspects then fled, possibly in a dark sedan near the intersection of Jackson and Buchanan streets, according to the alert. One victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Campus and Albany police searched the area but did not locate the suspects.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect No. 1 — A white male, 18 to 20 years old and approximately 5-foot-10 in height, with a thin build and short brown hair, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt
Suspect No. 2 — A white male, 18 to 20 years old, with a thin build and blond hair, wearing a hooded sweatshirt
The description of a third suspect is unknown, the alert said.
