Three suspects were arrested Friday after allegedly robbing a woman in Downtown Berkeley, according to a UCPD release.
The victim, a female with unknown affiliation with UC Berkeley, was walking near the intersection of Haste and Milva streets shortly before midnight when two male suspects forcibly robbed her of her property, according to the release. The victim was not injured in the encounter.
The suspects were last seen entering a white pickup truck. At about midnight, UCPD observed a white truck driving at a high speed in the wrong direction on Dana Street. The truck drove through Spieker Plaza and the Dwinelle lot before crashing into barrier poles and a bench. The suspects allegedly fled the truck and were detained, at which point the robbery victim identified them.
According to police, three suspects were arrested in connection to the incident — Bryan Escobedo, 18, Alejandro Martinez-Vargas, 19, and a 17-year-old male.
