For the last Fashion Friday of the semester, we’re doing things a little differently. As someone finishing up her first year in college, I thought it fitting to reflect on what I’ve learned over the last few months through the lens of various stylish students. Those featured this week represent eight lessons I learned in my first year at UC Berkeley.

Lesson two: Things aren’t always as they seem. (Jeah’s potato chip bag is actually a pencil case.)
Lesson three: Going green can be subtle — there isn’t just one way to do it.
Lesson four: Always be sweet.
Lesson five: Everyone is layered — don’t assume people are one-dimensional. (You also learned that you’ve got a terrible memory, because you approached this same exact girl the next day.)
Lesson six: Always stick with a buddy.

Lesson seven: Comfy is best. Also, everyone has Birkenstocks.
Lesson eight: Even when times are tough, try not to lose the summer spirit, because summer’s just around the corner!
