Police arrested three teenage suspects in connection with three purse snatch attempts on the southwest side of the Berkeley campus Wednesday night.

Officers from Berkeley Police Department responded to a reported purse snatching on the 1900 block of Allston Way about 7:50 p.m. They were alerted of another purse snatch on the 2100 block of Dwight Way en route, and BPD spokesperson Officer Jennifer Coats said the suspects sprayed the victim with pepper spray.

Upon further investigation, police found that the suspects attempted to rob another young woman of her purse and cellphone in the same area, according to Coats.

Officers searched the area and located the three suspects on the 2500 block of Ellsworth Street, where they were arrested, Coats said.
