Berkeley police respond to robbery at bank Wednesday morning

Police are investigating a robbery that happened Wednesday morning at a Berkeley bank.

Berkeley police responded to a call that came in at 10:07 a.m. about a man who made threats of having a gun at a Chase Bank on Shattuck Avenue and Channing Way, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Office Jennifer Coats. Cash was taken.

No employees were physically injured during the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing dirty blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a blue plaid shirt underneath. The suspect who fled the bank was last seen going west on Channing Way.

The robbery is still under investigation, Coats said.
