Campus police are investigating a sexual assault reported earlier this month, according to a crime alert released Tuesday.

On Aug. 5, UCPD received a report of a sexual assault that occurred Aug. 2 — when the victim, who is not affiliated with the campus, was visiting the suspect, whom she knew as a friend. Both the victim and the suspect attended local parties before returning to the suspect’s residence in campus housing.

According to the alert, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim by digital penetration. Though the alert was not posted until Tuesday because of investigative needs, the UCPD Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently investigating the crime.

The suspect is described as an Asian Indian male, 18 years old and 5-foot-10-inch with a light build, medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair.
