UCPD is investigating a report of sexual battery at Strawberry Creek Pool on Thursday evening.

According to a crime alert Friday morning, at 5:45 p.m., it was reported that a male suspect swam up to several victims — all female, ranging between 9 and 13 years old — and grabbed their legs or buttocks before swimming away. The suspect was described in the alert as a white male adult of unknown age wearing red swim shorts and with a medium build, brown hair, facial stubble and a pot belly. According to UCPD Capt. Alex Yao, the suspect was believed to have been in the pool Thursday from early afternoon and left at 5:45 p.m.

Yao said the department is still completing interviews of the victims in the case.

“One of our priorities is providing the victims with support, especially because of their age,” Yao said. “We are working with the county to make sure their needs are supported.”

There may have been additional victims, according to the alert. According to Friday’s crime alert, police are currently trying to identify the suspect.

“Any witnesses or additional victims who were affected by this case, we encourage them to contact us,” Yao said.
