A female student was assaulted Oct. 26 at Unit 3, according to a UCPD crime alert released Monday.

At about 10:30 p.m., the student exited a bus near Unit 3 when an unknown man started following her. He began talking to the student, who attempted to ignore him.

As they neared Beverly Cleary Hall, the suspect allegedly pushed the victim against the front door of the building, said sexually inappropriate things to her and attempted to force the student to let him into the building. When a Beverly Cleary resident opened the door, the suspect fled on foot.

A criminal complaint was not filed with UCPD. The department learned about the incident through a report from a campus security authority, who is required to report events such as these.

UCPD is asking the community for any information regarding the crime or the suspect.
